ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sophia Guadalupe (any pronouns) is a Chicago, IL based artist, educator, candlemaker, and herbalist originally from Miami, FL. Her work has recently been rooted in arts advocacy, curation, and administration in the public education and fine arts sectors. She is currently the artistic director for Artists in Public Schools, Garden Leader and Program Coordinator at the Pilsen community garden La Huerta Roots & Rays, and an herbalism apprentice in their second year with Urban Growers Collective. Sophia’s herbalism and artistic practices are in direct collaboration with her background as a Venezuelan-American queer lesbian raised in Florida and her work as a spiritual candlemaker.
